NAPA, Calif., Aug. 28, 2024 – The Procore Championship, set for Sept. 12-15 in Napa Valley, has announced three sponsor exemptions that will play in the field in this year’s tournament: Luke Clanton, Neal Shipley, and Wenyi Ding.
Luke Clanton
Currently the No.1 ranked amateur in the world and No. 66 overall, Clanton has already made history on the PGA TOUR. He is only the second amateur since 1961 to record three top-10 finishes in a single PGA TOUR season, a feat previously accomplished by Jack Nicklaus. Clanton also became the first amateur in 66 years to achieve back-to-back top-10 finishes in PGA TOUR events and is the only amateur in the 124-year history of the U.S. Open to record consecutive rounds in the 60s.
Neal Shipley
Shipley, a recent standout in the amateur circuit, turned professional following an impressive 2024 season. He made headlines by earning low amateur honors at both the Masters and the U.S. Open, joining an elite group of players who have achieved this distinction in the same year. Shipley’s amateur career was marked by a runner-up finish at the 2023 U.S. Amateur, which earned him entry into these major championships. A graduate of Ohio State University, Shipley has quickly transitioned to the professional ranks, already securing a top-10 finish in his first few PGA TOUR events.
Wenyi Ding
Ding, a standout freshman at Arizona State University, has quickly made a name for himself in collegiate golf. In 2024, he earned First Team All-America honors after an outstanding season where he finished as the top-ranked freshman in the Golfstat rankings and secured a place on the All-Freshman Team. His achievements include multiple top-10 finishes and a pivotal role in leading the Sun Devils to the NCAA Championship, where they advanced to match play. Ding’s impressive collegiate debut follows a decorated junior career, making him one of the most promising young talents in golf today.
Spectators have a variety of ticket options to choose from to watch this year’s sponsor exemptions compete, ranging from daily grounds tickets to the 1955 Club experience. The new 1955 Club offers fans incredible views of the finishing hole from the comfort of open-air seating in a grove of redwood trees, along with hosted lunch and afternoon snacks, beer and wine tastings from Alpha Omega, Amulet Estate, Freemark Abbey and Revana Family Vineyard.
